Merry Christmas - 4 weeks

Yes that is right, Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. We were the holy family at the midnight service at church complete with a live navity and real camels. Thomas did pretty good so stay tuned for developments in his launch into stardom and my new career as a stage mom. It was a wonderful first Christmas and we could not have asked for better gift than our healthy baby boy. Wishing you all a blessed Christmas.
I will cut to the chase and what you are all really here for....

3 Weeks old

Time is flying by and it is hard to believe Thomas is 3 weeks old already. This past week Thomas and mommy survived 3 nights with out daddy (thanks for the help Aunt Kelsey). Another big milestone is he lost his umbilical cord which means he could get his first bath! This is good because he has been spitting up a lot lately and has had some big blowouts. He is really starting to fill out his newborn outfits now. I also got a sling which Thomas loves hanging out in but worries me a bit that he will only want to sleep when he is right on my chest (guess that is not so bad to snuggle with him all the time). We are still totally in love with him and find ourselves just looking at him and smiling constantly.

Thomas is 2 weeks old!! At his two week appointment he had grown 3/4 of an inch and gained 1.5 oz from his birth weight. He is a long skinny baby at 90% for length and 20% for weight. Thomas is also quite advanced (or at least I think so) and is tracking. He loves his little lion toy that crinkles. Grandma and Grandpa Shirk left this weekend. It was great having them and we will miss the cooking, baking, laundry and extra set of hands that they provided. Grandpa Shirk commented on how much Thomas had filled out and changed in just a few days. It is hard for us to notice though because we are with him so much. Thomas has also figured out that at night time you eat and go back to sleep and daytime you can be awake for playing. Yeah!!! I hope that continues. He is still completely adorable and we can't stop kissing him and loving on him :)

Thomas was one week old on Friday. Time is flying by already. The first night home was a bit rough but every day has been getting better as we figure each other out. Highlights of his first week are that Thomas got his first bath (which didn't piss him off as much as I thought it would), it snowed in Houston, and he had his first pediatrician appointment (he was a rock star). He is super cute and we can't stop holding him. More pictures here
