Skiing and Rodeo

Thomas went on his first vacation in mid-February. We flew to Colorado (Breckenridge) for a ski trip where Grandma and Grandpa Shirk, Aimee and Maggie met us for four days of skiing.
Grandma was great watching Thomas while Eileen skied. Thomas really enjoyed his time with Grandma. Thomas also was very entertained by Grandpa Tom's Donald Duck impression. Aunt Aimee gave Thomas lots of hugs and kisses and cousin Maggie was so helpful in playing with Thomas.

Thomas had quite the adventure, just being 3 months old and getting to fly in an airplane (including a first class upgrade on the trip home), plus he rode in the gondola up to Peak 7 base at Breck. Pretty cool!

Last week, mommy took Thomas to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with next door neighbor Mack and new friend Cate. He got to see some newborn calfs, piglets, lambs, and chicks. He wore his ostrich cowboy boots and is definitely a TEXAN.

Finally, as you may know, we are building a new house. They started construction last week and have already made some progress. The piers were set, and the first and second floors were framed this weekend.

Ned Lee Smedley Montage

Ned has been through the ringer these last few months. So I thought he should get a little attention on the blog.  First he gets lost and hit by a car getting a horribly infected cut, then he has his MCL replaced as a result of that same car accident. To top it all off, there is this new creature in the house that makes a lot of noise and gets all of mom and dad's attention.
The wonderful staff at Montrose vet clinic have been so sweet to Ned and have taken his bandage changes to a whole new level. My favorite is the most recent seen here (big surprise).  I am excited to see what they will come up with for "go Texan day".  There will be more Thomas pictures after our ski trip this weekend but for now click here for Ned's Montage

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's day everyone. Thomas is getting bigger and doing more things everyday. This week's milestone is he is now reaching for his toys. He is also becoming very vocal. He likes standing up and talking with mommy and daddy. Ned had surgery last week to replace his Medial Collateral Ligament at A&M and he has a host of new casts at the vet here in Houston. They just love Ned.
Thomas wore his new cowboy boots for the first time. Thomas bought mommy roses for valetine's day an gave dad a very sweet card.

2 months

It has been a while since I have updated... sorry all. So Thomas is now two months (two and a half to be exact) and still incredibly cute! He got his two month shots and I think I cried more than he did. He took two road trips recently. One to Dallas where he met lots of relatives and friends. He also went to A&M with mom, dad and Ned to get Ned's ankle checked out. He is still sleeping great at night and almost always smiling. I hope all of our kids are this happy. He has gained 3 lbs and grew 3 inches at his two month appointment. That puts him at 20% for weight and 75% for length. Long and lean little guy.
Enjoy the pics and movies.

5 and 6 weeks

Thomas is growing! He is really smiling and cooing now which is very cute (eve at 2 am). Included in the pictures are a few videos of my attempt to capture the smiles. We also tried tummy time and he can hold his head up with considerable effort and grunting (there is a video of that too).
